Acne Skin Care Advice

Author: www.SkinCareFirst.com

Acne Skin Care advice can be described in two basic ways:

  1. The Inside-Out approach: This requires you to attain a balanced hormonal environment inside your body.  This is achieved through water, food, medicine, and other edible nutrients. This helps you to heal your skin from the inside.

  1. The External Care approach: With this approach you can care for your skin by treating it cleanliness, exposure to sunlight, and so on. This is what the external care demands.

The following advice is centered on the external acne skin care approach.

Cleansing the Skin

The majority of skin care specialists suggest a gentle rubbing of your acne-affected skin with mild cleansing agents. This should be done at regular intervals and at least twice a day, usually once in the morning and then in the evening before bed. However, if you are the sort of person who does a heavy exercise routine, then a shower is recommended after each sweating episode, so as not to let the sweat accumulate and harbor bacteria.

Ignoring this advice, some people try to deal with acne by scrubbing their affected skin. All this does is irritate the affected area and make the conditions worse. Also important after washing the skin is to rinse it thoroughly with clean water.

Shampoo

Shampooing the hair daily is very good for acne skin conditions, especially for those with excessively oily skin.

Squeezing, Picking and Scratching the Skin

The best acne skin care advice would be to always discourage acne suffers from frequently touching their acne-affected skin. Squeezing, picking or pinching blemishes can result in the scaring of the skin, or causing dark blotches.  If you don’t follow this advice you will spread the bacteria and things will get much worse.

Shaving

If you are a man with acne, then shaving demands extra care. If you prefer to use a safety razor rather than an electric one then make sure the blades are sharp. Also, make sure your beard is soft by applying soap and water before you apply the shaving cream. Shave lightly so that you do not cut through, or into the blemishes. Try to avoid frequent shaving and use shaving foam that is designed for sensitive skin.

Exposure to the Sun

You need to be aware that several prescription formulas used to treat acne can make the skin extra sensitive to sunlight. Acne skin care thus necessitates that the acne patient try to check his/her exposure to sunlight before long exposure. Sun can play havoc on the skin by causing it to age rapidly and also by a greater risk of skin cancer.

Skin Care Cosmetics

People suffering from acne should choose cosmetics in the same way they choose products for the hair. Make sure the cosmetics you buy are oil free. It’s also wise to test new products on small hidden areas of your skin to test your sensitivity to them, before applying them to your face.
